On Monday I got a text-message from Leigh. "Josh is styling a video for
a band and I'm one of the fly video hos. Come!" I mean, what else
can you do, right?
I arrived at the studio over in the West Side and found the set. I
was told that the video was for a new band that was going to be released
on DFA Records called The Juan Maclean and the name of the song was
"Give Me Every Little Thing." I stood around mystified watching
two guys in matching American Apparel undies practice syncopated dance
routines (I was told they were the guys in the band) and then set off
to try to find Leigh and Josh.
I found Leigh in the back getting her make up finished. The make up
was pretty awesome, but it had nothing on...
...the rest of the outfit that Josh had picked out for her! He admonished
Leigh for looking to happy and reminded her that she needed to work
on her "fly
video ho" face.
There, much better.
At this point, we all went back out to the set and I asked Josh to
explain to me what the hell the video was about. (In a nutshell, it's
about two dudes that are abducted from Earth by aliens and put into
a "human habitat" at an Alien Zoo.) No, seriously.
Leigh and the other girl (who's name I've forgotten, sorry!) play the
part of two sexy vixens that are virtually warped into the habitat
to pleasure the two men that have been captured. Check out the fly
video hos rehearsing their choreography.
Josh shows them what's up.
Doing the Tinny Dance!
And all this gear was going to be used for a scene in which one of
the guys that's in captivity dons a helmet and a glove and enters
virtual reality.
The director.
The rest of the set was pretty amazing.
This painting pretty much takes the cake, though.
Oh! And out in the lobby there was a bird (a cockatoo?). While Leigh
was practicing her dance moves, we discovered that the bird like to
DANCE! Hahaha.
I shit you not! Check out the vid above to see him dance along!
Up in the control room or whatever it's called with Josh to check out...
...the bird's eye view of the shoot.
And there you have it. Josh Madden: Video Stylist! Leigh Lezark: Fly
Video Ho!
I found the full video posted on YouTube. If you've got four minutes
to spare, go for it. It's pretty awesome.
