I'm so not a person who likes to celebrate New Year's Eve. (Hell, I
bitched about this holiday so much online that I even ended up
getting quoted about it in a newspaper
column that ran all over the country!)
Rather than run from party to party, this year Niki and I decided to
have a small get together at our place!

The affair started low-key with the usual suspects (Grant, Fatty, Katie,
Amanda and Siege) chilling in my room.

Then as more people started to arrive, we moved out into the living room
and set up Dance Dance Revolution! I'd even gone out a few days earlier
and bought a second "dance pad" so that two people could go head-to-head
in a competitive DANCE OFF! Here's Meredith and Grant squaring off.

Seth and Erin.

Michael Martin (the most elusive dude we know) even showed up! Yay!

Sheff testing out his dancing skills.

Seth and I. Don't let the maroon turtleneck throw you off...

...the dude's got MOOOVES.

We even went so far as to get a bunch of snacks and appetizers.

We even got Siege to try a veggie samosa. (It was the closest thing we had to
an orange food so he really had no choice).

Grant was in the kitchen being entertained by...

...this guy! Frank Picarazzi in the house!
As well as the
very lovely Mrs. Picarazzi (who was at the time six months preggo!)

A few dance-offs later and it was midnight! Happy 2006, everyone!

Happy 2006, Meredith!

Happy 2006, Michael Martin!

How about starting off your year as the meat in a manwich?

Amanda popped the champagne!

Fatty played Auld Lang Syne on a tiny, tiny bugle.

Grant, Mer, Siege and KT.

Siege (drinking a Sour Apple Smirnoff Ice, no less!) and Mandy Moo.

Frank showed off Liz's work in progress! Lydia coming soon!
And then it was time for New Year's Eve Portraits! Featuring...

...the awesome bag of "2006" glasses that someone had brought to the
party! Happy 2006, Meredith!

You're a star in 2006, Grizz!

Holy shit, you're going to squeeze out a kid in 2006, Liz!

Holy shit, you're going to be a dad in 2006, Frank!

Happy 2006, Niki the Roommate! (Sorry, I'm the worst roommate ever!)

Happy 2006, Mrs. Peepers!

Happy 2006, KT!

Happy 9006, Siege! (I didn't know you were celebrating the Jewish calendar!)

Happy 2006, Seth!
After all the
"it's a brand new year!" excitement died down...

...we got right back to playing DDR.

These guys were all friends of Meredith's friends and seemed to be sorta
bummed about the fact that they were spending their big "NYE in
NYC"
watching strangers competitively dance on Xbox.

But hey, that's just how we do.

At some point we noticed that Frank had disappeared from the party.
We found him in my room checking football scores (???) on my computer!

Which sorta became the catalyst for a 2nd little mini-party in my bedroom.

Michael and Fatty.

As anyone who's been over my apartment can attest, as soon as someone
comes near my computer, I'm always overtaken by the NEED to show them
all the funny videos and/or pictures I've recently found. So with a huge
audience crammed into my tiny room, it was no surprise that I busted
out my favorite video of all time - the video of the teenage boy that
tries to launch a bottle rocket out of his asshole.
If you haven't ever seen this, you need to WATCH IT RIGHT NOW. If you've already
seen it, you should watch it again.

We spent the next 20 minutes or so watching it over and over and over.
Grant was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to throw up.

Good times.

The party wound down a little bit before 4am. Meredith decided to call it a night...

...while Grant, Amanda and I hopped in a cab. They headed home and afterwards
I took the cab to see if MisShapes was still going on.

But by the time I got there, the place was dead. Right after I walked
in the door, Ryan and Amy K. showed up (they'd had a mellow
evening and
decided to rally late as well!)

We all went downstairs and found the usual suspects hanging out down
in the basement backroom.

Scott!

Geordon was already going through the photos from earlier in the evening...

...and Thomas was straightening his hair! (???)

The Tinny! I stole this picture from Amy's
account of the night because I like
it so much!

Happy 2006, Leigh Lezark!
2005 was a pretty fucking sweet year. Here's to hoping 2006 is even
better. Happy New Year!
